ALMA means 'soul' in Portuguese. This wine may not be Soalheiro's usual Alvarinho from melgaço, but it retains their soul...

The grapes are sourced from vineyards further west from the winery, and as such have a greater influence from the Atlantic. The location is cooler, breezier, with granitic soils very poor in organic matter. This astringencey of the environment brings out the best expression of the Loureiro grape variety. Pure and intense limey citrus, and green and white orchard fruit. Lots of crisp, textural minerality, and elegant herb and floral notes.
