Moving away from previous careers, both José and Liliana have spent several years travelling the world together, learning their crafts. Inspired by culture and history, their goal was of returning to their homeland and continuing the winemaking traditions of their Grandparents.

José is the winemaker and viticulturist. To name only a couple, he has worked at Dominio del Bendito, in Toro, and Niepoort Vinhos, in the Douro.  They have both also lived and worked in the Barossa Valley, Australia, and California. Liliana is the other half of this energetic duo, with a Masters degree in wine business managment. Together, and with the help of their kids and close friends, they have embarked on their adventure.

The name 'El Hato Y El Garabato' comes from a Don Quixote quote, meaning 'to bet it all', every last bit!
