Morgado do Quintao
MDQ-ANF-TB2024-BUK
Grape Varieties Crato Branco
Upholding generational tradition, Morgado do Quintão still have two century-old anforas. One for vinhos brancos and one for vinhos tintos.
The Branco uses pressed Crato Branco grapes, with no skins or stems, spontaneously fermented in anfora with wild yeast. The wine is left on gross lees for 6 months of ageing in the anfora.
The result is a hugely complex and powerful wine, but with surprising delicacy and elegance. Aromatically pure and intense, with zippy grapefruit and lime, green and yellow orchard fruit, florals and herbs, and earthy and saline minerality. The palate is again intense, with a hint of texture from a tiny bit of tannin and its time in clay. The acidity is very fresh, and, combined with volume and mouthfeel, makes for a very drinkable and food-friendly wine.
