Malvasia is technically the sweetest Maderia style, but Ricardo’s attention to detail during the canteiro ageing process ensures high acidity to balance the sugar and intensity of flavour. Orange citrus fruit with a pithy edge, dried stone fruit, nuttiness somewhere between almonds and toasted hazelnuts, and dark caramel. Lots of complexity from the warm, oxidative ageing adds spices and that classic maderisation flavour. The super-fine and clean palate and finish are testament to the balance and overall quality of this wine.
