Fio
FIO-SOC-TB2018-BUK
Grape Varieties Riesling
The product of a very special vineyard, just outside Piesport. Daniel and Philipp discovered the Leiwener Josefberg a couple of years ago and invested in its potential. They bought this young vineyard because the vines are planted on terraces, in double rows, just like those of the Douro valley. These ‘Socalcos’ give the wine its name.
They’re managing the vineyard in a minimal intervention and sustainable manner, using 7 small sheep to control the grass and pests. The situation of the vineyard catches light and the breeze, and so helps to reduce pest and fungal problems also.
The wine is also minimal intervention and displays a different character to FIO’s other cuvees, being a little more vegetal and green, in a good way!
